Speakers covering politics, business and motivation headlining AFSA’s Independents Conference & Expo

AFSA is presenting three top flight speakers at next week’s Independents Conference & Expo in Austin, Texas.

Headlining the conference’s Opening General Session next Wednesday morning will be Chris Stirewalt, Politics Editor for Fox News Channel and a host of other FNC platforms.

Stirewalt got his start in media at the local level at the Wheeling West Virginia Intelligencer, the Charleston Daily Mail and West Virginia Media. He then made his way to Washington D.C., working for the Washington Examiner where he led the political coverage and wrote a twice-weekly column.

He joined Fox News Channel in 2010. Today, he writes the daily Fox News Halftime Report and co-hosts the podcast Perino & Stirewalt.

Gabrielle Bosche’ is at the top of the lineup Thursday morning as a subject matter expert on studying Millennials as a Millennial herself. She is a consultant to companies that want to better understand the goals and values of the generation of people born between 1981 and 2000.

Bosche’ launched her company Millennial Solutions in 2015 and, according to a profile in The Washington Post, has advised Microsoft, Audi Volkswagen’s German leadership team, plus Northrop Grumman, Inova, Honeywell, and the U.S. Department of the Interior among other companies and organizations. Bosche’ seeks to dispel what she calls Five Myths about Millennials, which is also the title of one of her three books.

Closing out the conference at Thursday’s Champions Club luncheon will be retired U.S. Army Officer 1st Lt. Melissa Stockwell

Lt. Stockwell, an Iraq war veteran, is a two-time Paralympian having competed in the 2008 summer Paralympics in three swimming events. She was the first Iraq veteran chosen for the Paralympics and competed in the 100 m butterfly, 110 m freestyle, and 400 m freestyle.

She then became a triathlete, competing in world championships in 2010-2013.

Lt. Stockwell returned to the 2016 Paralympic Games in 2016 and won a bronze medal in the first-ever Paratriathlon event. Her military career started with the ROTC at the University of Colorado and after graduation she was assigned to the First Calvary Division at Fort Hood, Texas.

For her service in Iraq, she was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Today she works as a prosthetist and has served on the board of the Wounded Warrior Project.She is a triathlon coach and co-founder of Dare2Tri, a Chicago-based triathlon club for athletes with disabilities.
