AFSA Pivotal in Successful Texas Remote Work Initiative

AFSA Pivotal in Successful Texas Remote Work Initiative

On June 14, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed HB 3510. Effective September 1, the new law will allow employees of companies licensed by the Texas Finance Commission—which include vehicle finance companies, traditional installment lenders, and mortgage lenders—to work remotely from licensed locations, provided certain requirements are met.

AFSA’s Work from Home initiative was pivotal to the success of this legislation, which is the first bill in the country based on AFSA’s work from home model act. AFSA and its members worked with Texas legislators and other partners in the state in order to pass the bill. Among these actions, on March 29, AFSA and seven member companies sent a joint letter to the House Pensions, Investments, & Financial Services Committee on the bill in support of the bill.

This bill, along with AFSA’s work from home advocacy and other bills and regulations, can be found on AFSA work from home resources page
