A Full House in Vegas

A Full House in Vegas

There was no gambling or bluffing needed at the 2023 Independents Conference & Expo; we had a full house and a full schedule of informative speakers and great networking opportunities.

The conference is a crucial resource for the consumer credit industry to get the latest legislative and regulatory updates as well as meet and greet colleagues and business partners.

The conference kicked off with a number of committee meetings and got underway with the Welcome Dinner and AFSAPAC Auction on Tuesday evening.

AFSA members raised more than $65,000 for the PAC and nearly $150,000 for the AFSA Education Foundation.

  • Wednesday got going with a joyous and energetic keynote presentation from Amanda Gore, the CEO of the Joy Project, who entertained and enlightened attendees with her focus on building and fostering connectedness with those around us.

  • Danielle Arlowe and Celia Winslow delivered their always informative, sometimes entertaining download on federal and state issues.

  • Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar spoke with Ed McFadden, SVP at AFSA on the key issues he’s tackling during his term with a focus on bringing businesses of all kinds to Nevada.

  • Five companies presented new and exciting products at the first-ever Solutions Showcase, which provided AFSA members with a in depth look at some of the best products and services available today.

  • Breakout discussions ran the gamut from survey results from RSM to the State of State AGs, a timely panel highlighting the flaws of rate caps to strategies for hiring neurodivergent candidates.

  • Attendees heard an inspirational, thought-provoking discussion from Champion’s Club speaker Jake Harriman.
