AFSA Board of Directors Changes
The AFSA Board of Directors has unanimously approved the election of Gary McQuain to the AFSA Board of Directors. He is replacing Bob Bloom on the Board. Bob will remain on the Executive Committee until September 30, 2018.
McQuain is currently CEO & President of Southern Management Corporation. He is a seasoned financial services executive with 29 years of professional experience in operational management, business development, and administrative oversight in the consumer finance and retail-banking sectors.
McQuain started his career with Blazer Financial Services as a Manager trainee in 1989. He spent the next 19 years in various roles both in the field operations as well as at Corporate Headquarters. During this time, Blazer was acquired by Citigroup and integrated into the CitiFinancial business unit. In 2008, he transitioned to Citibank in New York and then moved to Singapore in Citibank’s Asia Pacific Region where he had oversight of the Sales and Distribution function for the thirteen countries that make up the APAC Region. In 2011, Gary assumed responsibility for the Retail Bank, CitiFinancial and Commercial Lending across Indonesia.
McQuain moved back to the United States in 2016 where he joined MidCountry Financial Corp. as Executive Vice President of Operations with responsibility for Technology, Human Resources, Corporate Communications and Project Management functions. In 2017, he added oversight of MidCountry’s subsidiary Pioneer Financial Service where he was named President. In October of 2017, Gary joined Southern Management Corporation as President and CEO.
McQuain’s education background includes an MBA in Business Administration from Averett College in Virginia and a BS in Finance from Concord College in West Virginia.
