STEPHANIE CASTO has been Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer since February 18, 2021. Previously, she served as Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer since 2019. She also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer from 2017 to 2019; Senior Vice President and Associate Counsel from 2015 to 2017; Vice President and Associate Counsel from 2009 to 2015; Assistant Vice President and Associate Counsel from 2001 to 2009; and Staff Attorney from 2000 to 2001. Before joining GM Financial, Stephanie was engaged in private legal practice.

Family

What is something interesting about you that members might not know?
I love being active, working out, running and in my distant past I even ran a few marathons.

Who has been a role model for you?
I have had several great role models all throughout my career with different leaders in the company.

What are you most proud of?
My family. Also I have an amazing team of global compliance and privacy professionals that I am proud to work with everyday.

a. What would you say are the key success factors for a mentoring relationship?
I think communication regarding what you hope to accomplish in the relationship is key.

b. What advice would you give yourself as a young executive?
Don't be afraid to take a leap and try a new role. It may not be the exact path you envisioned, but could bring growth and opportunity.

c. What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started your career?
Same as above!
