Personal Motto:

I was active in the creation of the Family Medical Leave Act (Lobbying in Washington, DC, working in non-profit during the writing of the bill) before I fully realized how important it would become for employees and their employers.

Who has been a role model for you?
As an adolescent I was involved in a youth activity called “drum and bugle corps”, I participated for many years and traveled across the world performing. We were held accountable for all of the measurable’s – we had to show up and on time, know exactly how all of the pieces fit together, continuously practice, learn from our mistakes, partner with more than 100 other participants, maintain meticulous uniforms, constantly seek opportunities for improvement; study and know our competition, identify our strengths, and opportunities, we worked hardest at our worst, through exhaustion, heat wave or thunder storm, we were a team that recognized that investing in others was an investment in our own self and that we were only as strong as our weakest link.

What are you most proud of?
I found a career that empowered me with a privilege to nurture and develop others. I constantly hear from former employees and coworkers that I made a difference.
