AFSA Op-Ed Focuses on MLA
As AFSA President and CEO Celia Winslow notes in her recent op-ed in Stars and Stripes, the financial stability for America’s active military servicemembers and their families is tantamount to a national security matter. For our military to be focused on the security of our nation, they should not be distracted or weighed down by financial concerns. That was the intent of the Military Lending Act when it was enacted, one that AFSA Members Companies fully support.
But over the years, the MLA has put in place policies that may actually hinder military servicemembers’ access to reliable and ethical credit products, while at the same time the Pentagon is failing to hold unethical lenders that target servicemembers to account.
