AFSA Comments on Military Lending Act Information Collection Notice
On July 18, AFSA submitted comments on an information collection notice from the Department of Defense relating to the Military Lending Act.
AFSA has been active on Military Lending Act issues for several years. We have followed the twists and turns of regulatory policies that have had significant effects on the availability of credit to military consumers and family members. In this letter, we reminded the Department of Defense of the remaining work to be done. While well-intentioned, some of the current Military Lending Act regulations limit access to popular forms of credit that are generally available to the public. AFSA has met with the Department of Defense on these issues recently, and we are eager to continue the dialogue to make sure that military consumers have access to a wide range of credit products and services.
