AFSA Comments on CFPB Changes to Supervisory Designation and Adjudication Proceedings Rules
Last week, AFSA submitted comments to the CFPB on two changes to rules controlling how the CFPB manages supervision of covered companies. These are rules relating to supervisory designation and adjudications. In both instances, the CFPB decided to withdraw past rule changes in order to make operations more fair to covered companies. Our letters observed that the efforts by the CFPB these improvements will be helpful to companies under the CFPB’s jurisdiction and consumers. With regard to the changes to supervisory designation proceedings, our letter explained how past exercise of the CFPB’s authority has been subjectively based and imposed unwarranted hardships on companies offering standard consumer financial products and services that are subject to existing governmental oversight.
