What has been the most important lesson?
A valuable life lesson is to stay true to your values while showing grace to others. By holding firm to your principles, you ensure that your actions and decisions are aligned with what truly matters to you, leading to a more authentic. At the same time, extending grace to others—being understanding, patient, and forgiving—fosters positive relationships and a supportive environment. This balance of integrity and compassion not only enriches your own life but also positively impacts those around you, creating a ripple effect of kindness and respect.
Setting boundaries, being authentic, and making ethical decisions, you ensure that your work is meaningful and satisfying. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals and advocating for your values at work can also help create a positive and supportive environment. Ultimately, staying true to your values leads to a career that not only meets your professional goals but also enriches your personal life and those you surround yourself with.

Was there a mentor who provided great insight in your early career?
Tom Hudson, although I’m not sure he thought of me as a mentee, but more of an inquisitive young lady who kept asking him questions.  Tom always took the time to sit with me and discuss the auto industry, current events or legal topics. As a young, new entrant to the industry, I was fortunate to have Tom’s guidance. He helped me discover my passion for compliance and lobbying, guiding me with patience and encouragement. Tom urged me to search for answers in statutes, and delve into all the car law books, as they held the solutions to the industry’s issues. His support and wisdom were instrumental in shaping my career path, instilling in me a deep appreciation for subprime auto financing and introduced me to people who have become incredible friends in the industry.  I’m forever grateful for Tom’s love and support.

What do you wish the you of today could have told the younger you about building a career?
Reflecting and reassessing your goals and values regularly helps you stay aligned with your vision. By taking time to evaluate your progress and make necessary adjustments, you ensure continuous growth and improvement. Maintaining a positive attitude, as it allows you to see challenges as opportunities and stay motivated. Setting boundaries and being authentic are key to a healthy and fulfilling career. By establishing clear limits, you protect your personal time and well-being, ensuring you don’t burn out. Being authentic means staying true to your values and principles, which builds trust and respect with colleagues and customer. This helps create an environment where you can personally grow and thrive.
