2023 Federal Priorities
AFSA released its 2023 Federal Priorities this week, focused on the protection and expansion of access to safe, responsible credit for all Americans. Some 22 different federal laws spanning eight different agencies create a layered system of financial protection laws that ensure consumers are treated fairly and responsibly.
As our economy evolves, our consumer finance laws must keep up.
AFSAs priorities run the gamut from ensuring clarity from regulatory agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to fighting the wrong-headed policy of arbitrary rate caps to working to protect consumers from predatory credit repair schemes.
There’s far more we’re focused on at both the state and federal level. The best way to stay in the know is to follow @AFSA_DC and @AFSA_SGA on Twitter and check back on afsaonline.org/blog.
