Nikki is a partner in the Maryland office of Hudson Cook, LLP, and Editor in Chief of CounselorLibrary.com’s CARLAW publication. She counsels financial services providers on compliance with consumer financial services laws, including unfair, deceptive, and abusive acts or practices, as well as the investigations, rulemakings, and proceedings of the CFPB and FTC. She assists licensed lenders and motor vehicle dealers in the development and maintenance of nationwide consumer automobile finance programs; online motor vehicle sales assistance programs; and electronic payment programs. Nikki and Hudson Cook have been supporting and sponsoring AFSA’s Women’s Leadership Council from the very beginning.
We asked Nikki what advice she’d give to her younger self, knowing what she knows now.
It is a marathon, not a sprint. Slow down, take the time to learn and grow, enjoy the ride. Do not be afraid to fail – you will learn from each bump in the road. Encourage people along the way to the top, and you will bring others with you. By also investing in the success of others, you will feel better about yourself and strong leaders will surround you. Family remains the most important thing in life.
