MoneySKILL® Free Personal Finance Course: New Back-to-School Features

As parents, teachers, and students head back to school this fall, make sure to check out the AFSA Education Foundation’s free financial education course, MoneySKILL. Available entirely online, MoneySKILL offers teachers, parents, nonprofits, and businesses a high-quality resource for delivering financial education. Courses can be fully customized from a collection of 37 personal finance modules and are available in English and Spanish.

Not only is MoneySKILL an easy-to-use resource for educators, but students completing the course show significant improvements in financial knowledge and behaviors. According to an evaluation released in April, over 90% of students completing MoneySKILL see some knowledge gains with an average grade increase of 60% when comparing pre- and post-test exams. Furthermore, the adoption of MoneySKILL in schools is shown to improve the likelihood of middle school students later obtaining a bank account and leads to increases in high school FAFSA® student aid applications. For more information about this evaluation, review the full report or the infographic outline. the results.

In preparation for the new school year, the AFSA Education Foundation has also incorporated brand new video content to each MoneySKILL module, added professional audio recordings of the full curriculum, and is constantly updating the course content to reflect up-to-date information.
