AFSA SGA June Whitepaper is Posted
The June State Government Affairs white paper is an update of our evergreen white paper examining federal regulation of financial institutions. Consumer advocates often characterize certain financial products as "unregulated” in their push for new state regulations. This is simply not true.
Although many non-bank financial institutions are licensed by the states in which they operate and not the federal government, this misleading characterization overlooks the myriad federal laws and regulations with which state-licensed financial institutions must comply. This evergreen white paper provides an overview of these laws and regulations.
The white paper is available under the State Resources section of AFSA’s website.
