2020 is shaping up to be a very interesting year in the credit and collection space. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau hopes to have a final debt collection rule after releasing the proposal last May.
The Supreme Court weighed in on the statute of limitations for Fair Debt Collection Practices Act cases and has taken up the constitutionality of the CFPB's structure. Other federal courts have ruled on new interpretations of the statute, especially with the implementation of new technologies in the space.
