CFPB Next to Get the House Financial Services Committee Treatment
On October 9, 2019, House Financial Services Chair Maxine Waters (D-CA) announced a new slate of committee hearings and markups. One notable session, scheduled for October 16, 2019, is entitled, “Who is Standing Up for Consumers? A Semi-Annual Review of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.”
Given some Congressional skepticism of the direction of the Bureau since the departure of Director Richard Cordray, this hearing should provide for a lively discussion on policy preferences from House members in both parties. The hearing will be available on the HFSC website and AFSA staff will keep members informed.
