Herring Receives Outstanding Independent Award
Virginia C. “Ginger” Herring, President of Georgia-based 1st Franklin Financial Corporation, received AFSA’s Outstanding Independent Award on April 17 during AFSA’s 2019 Independents Conference & Exposition in Austin, Texas.
The Outstanding Independent Award is given to an individual who has contributed significantly to the success of the financial services industry and the AFSA Independents Section through active involvement and participation in the community and the association.
In 2009, Herring served on the Professional Development Committee and NICCM Board, which is now The EDGE. She served on the Independents Advisory Board from 2006-2011, and as Section Chair in 2012-2013. In 2014, Herring received the Distinguished Service Award, the association’s highest honor.
In 2017, she was named AFSA Chair, leading the association through some of the most turbulent times for the traditional installment lending and consumer credit industry. She worked closely with AFSA staff and elected representatives to protect access to credit and promote traditional installment lending as a critically important part of the American economy.
Herring continues to be a strong supporter of the AFSAPAC as a member of the Chairman’s Club and AFSA Education Foundation.
