Don’t Miss Key Sessions at the NACCA/AFSA Forum!

We’re just three weeks away from the 2018 NACCA/AFSA State Government Affairs & Legal Issues Forum in Turnberry Isle, Fla. This year’s regulator, industry joint day will be held on June 7 and several information-packed sessions are on the docket.

Melinda Zabritski, Senior Director with Experian Automotive kicks off the morning with an overview of the latest consumer credit market trends. Her presentation will also look at the wider market and how those changes could affect the consumer credit industry.

The response of financial institutions to the aftermath of natural disasters as well as the critical work that goes into preparing for that relief effort can mean all the difference to those affected. Michelle Jeansonne with the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions, Chris Keiser of Flagship Credit Acceptance, and Leslie Pettijohn from the Texas Office of the Consumer Credit Commissioner will talk at length about this topic.

In the afternoon, attendees will hear from Lance James, Chief Scientist at Flashpoint on the dark web. What is it, what can we do about it and why should we even care? The short answer is that the dark web is a hot bed of illegal activity and fighting those who do business there is critical for both financial institutions and regulators to successfully serve consumers.

John Redding from Buckley Sandler will provide the lay of the land on legislation and litigation affecting the financial services industry across the country. To close out the afternoon’s sessions, Ryan Black of the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions and Phil Hitz of OneMain Financial will moderate the always crowd-pleasing Regulatory Rapid Fire Top Issues session. Ryan and Phil will be joined by Chuck Cross of the Conference of State Banking Supervisors (CSBS) and April Park of OneMain to discuss a whole host of issues, including CSBS’ “Vision 2020,” regtech, fintech, cybersecurity initiatives, credit deserts, and convenience fees.

Networking has been a hallmark of the Forum since its inception and you will have plenty of opportunities throughout the day to meet with industry counterparts and regulators.

The AFSA Law Committee, Ancillary Product Working Group, State Government Affairs Committee, and Operations and Regulatory Compliance Committee meetings will be held in conjunction with the Forum beginning on June 4. For the full schedule and more, visit the 2018 NACCA/AFSA Forum website.
