Jim Schneider is the Chief Operating Officer for Baltimore, MD based Mariner Finance where he is responsible for branch, centralized direct auto and mortgage operations, as well as acquisitions and marketing. Jim joined the Mariner Finance team in 2015 from OneMain Financial where he was Managing Director and Executive Vice President.
During his twenty-year tenure with Commercial Credit/CitiFinancial/OneMain Financial, Jim held a number of positions with the organization. As Chief Operating Officer for CitiFinancial North America, he led the daily execution of the company’s strategic initiatives, and managed the branch employees throughout the branch network in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Jim also served as Executive Vice President of Branch Support Operations, a group of middle and back office functions that included executive operations, centralized operations, centralized lending, centralized credit, and training.
A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Jim has spent his entire career in the consumer financial services industry. He worked in, and managed, a variety of business channels – from full service consumer finance to real estate originations and servicing (including broker, acquisitions and consumer direct). His experience reflects positions of increasing responsibilities at a number of former industry leading companies including The Associates, Security Pacific, The CIT Group, and Ford Consumer Finance.
In 2008, Jim was named as a member of Citigroup’s Global Consumer Planning Group, and served as an officer on the Board of Directors for CitiFinancial Credit Corporation from 2004 -2015. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the American Financial Services Education Foundation and is Chairman of AFSA’s EDGE Advisory Board. Jim is also actively involved with the United Way of Central Maryland, both as a member of the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee.
Jim and his wife Karen have two grown children, and reside in Bel Air, Maryland.
