AFSAEF Launches New MoneySKILL Personal Finance Courses on AFSA University
The AFSA Education Foundation is pleased to announce the release of three new MoneySKILL® personal finance courses on the AFSA University training and education platform. In addition to important compliance training, companies that subscribe to AFSA University can now offer their employees additional personal-enrichment content in the following areas:
- Money Management and Budgeting Fundamentals
- Understanding Credit
- Vehicle Financing
These courses were created to meet AFSA members’ growing interest in personal-finance content designed specifically for their employees. Personal-finance expert and Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Rutgers University, Dr. Barbara O’Neill, led the development of the content by modifying existing material from MoneySKILL, the foundation’s flagship financial education program. Additionally, the MoneySKILL Expansion Committee, made up of several employees from AFSA member companies, helped significantly in the review process and guided the project to completion.
The AFSA Education Foundation’s mission is to educate consumers of all ages on personal finance concepts and help them realize the benefits of responsible money management. For the past 30 years, the foundation has been dedicated to providing free personal finance education, resources, and training to educators and their students.
“Personal finance education is so important at any stage of life and having the right type of content is key to ensuring a lasting understanding,” noted Rhonda Ashburn, executive director at the AFSA Education Foundation. “Because of that, we are so thrilled to have MoneySKILL courses that are tailored specifically for the needs and interests of AFSA member staff.”
AFSA University subscribers are encouraged to explore the new courses and share with their staff who may be interested. Because the content is entirely for personal enrichment, passing thresholds for test scores are automatically set to zero, but can be customized by each organization as desired. AFSA members who are interested in acquiring access to the AFSA University courses should contact Philip Bohi at pbohi@afsamail.org.
