AFSA and Federal Agencies Provide Educational Resources During COVID-19

Friday was officially Director Kathleen Kraninger’s second anniversary as Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The second year of Director Kraninger’s tenure has been marked with unprecedented challenges as the American people dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic disruption it has caused for businesses and consumers alike.

During the pandemic, the CFPB created a coronavirus resources page to provide information for consumers and companies regarding available relief options. The page includes guidance for small businesses and employers, along with tips on managing your finances and avoiding scams. In addition, the CFPB, Department of Agriculture, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Federal Housing Finance Agency launched a federal interagency housing website dedicated to providing consumers with information on all the mortgage and housing assistance available during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, the American Financial Services Association similarly created a COVID-19 resources page for members to easily access federal and state resources. The resource page also outlines AFSA’s ongoing efforts on the federal and state level to advocate for the consumer finance industry and their customers.
