CFPB to Host Symposium on Cost-Benefit Analysis in Regulation
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau today announced that it will host a symposium to discuss the cost-benefit analysis of financial protection regulations on July 29 at 9:30 a.m. AFSA staff will attend.
“The symposium is intended to seek perspectives [on] the use of cost-benefit analysis in consumer financial protection regulations,” the Bureau’s press release noted. “The Bureau is exploring developments in the cost-benefit analysis arena and will consider lessons that may be useful as it nears the start of its second decade of work.”
AFSA is pleased that the CFPB is taking a closer look at the economic and societal costs of its regulations. Thorough cost-benefit analysis is crucial in evaluating the effect of regulations on consumers and businesses.
