Remembering Sharon Moore

Sharon Moore, February 1, 1947-September 21, 2025
AFSA was saddened to learn today that longtime consumer industry professional Sharon Moore passed away. Sharon was deeply involved in the consumer loan industry for decades serving in various executive leadership roles and as a former AFSA and Education Foundation Board of Directors member. During her career Sharon was chair of the Professional Development Board and was currently serving on the Education, Development, Growth, and Enrichment (EDGE) Advisory Board and Leadership Development Program Steering Committee. She received the AFSA Distinguished Service Award in 2008.
Sharon held multi-faceted financial service senior executive positions and had a deep operational knowledge and multi-state experience. She was regarded for her leadership as a builder of high-performing teams and with that background she developed her own consulting firm, Career Success, in 2004. As President and Owner, she continued to provide training and mentoring in consumer loan markets for various U.S. loan corporations and start-ups.
Annually, Sharon taught Performance Management at the EDGE, receiving phenomenal evaluations and comments. She loved the EDGE students, and they loved her guidance and teachings. As a former EDGE President and student, she brought a special perspective that resonated with those in attendance. This past June one EDGE student shared:
The amount of knowledge, history, and experience that radiates from Sharon is next level! She is the kind of gem [that] people search for their entire career and never find. Knowing where she’s been and her ability to explain the way makes me want to perform as a higher caliber team member. I love the exercise with the groups and the role play! The material covered is highly relatable (real life scenarios) to what we do daily and it was helpful to hear/witness best practices from so many people from different states. I would love to have her as a direct mentor!
