AFSA State Election Watch 2024
AFSA’s State Government Affairs team released their 2024 Post-Election Report. The 2024 elections saw key shifts in state-level power, with Republicans making significant gains, including flipping Michigan’s House and narrowing control in Pennsylvania.
Democrats managed to tie the Arizona Senate and break GOP supermajorities in North Carolina and Wisconsin. However, Vermont lost its Democratic supermajorities, and Republicans strengthened their positions in Kansas and South Carolina.
Gubernatorial races saw Republicans hold New Hampshire, while Democrats flipped attorney general seats in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Overall, the elections reshaped political control in several states, setting the stage for intense governance battles ahead.
