AFSA Applauds Bureau CRO Consumer Advisory
Today, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) issued an advisory reminding consumers that they have the right to see results from Credit Repair Organizations (CRO) before they pay and, more importantly, that they do not need to pay a company to improve their credit.
AFSA applauds the Bureau’s work on this crucial consumer issue. As we have noted – and the CFPB reinforces – CROs often take advantage of consumers who find themselves in stressful financial straits. We will continue to work with the Bureau and Congress to restrict CROs which serve no purpose for consumers other than to cause them harm.
