How have your life experiences as a Black American shaped the person you are today?
My life experiences as a Black American have given me the ambition, resilience and fortitude that I have today. I’ve been in circles and situations where I didn’t feel appreciated and valued and I’ve also been in other situations and circles where I was celebrated and encouraged. Those times in my life taught me that regardless of what people tell you or think of you, what matters is what you think of and are telling yourself. And regardless of how loud someone claps for you, no one will ever clap louder than I will for myself.
What does Black History Month mean to you?
Black History Month means celebrating the past and honoring the achievements of Black Americans who paved the way for me and many others while also embracing and preparing the future for many others to make their mark.
