Drotman Appointed AFSA Chair

During its AFSA’s Annual Meeting, Jim Drotman, Executive Vice President, U.S., Canada and International with Ford Motor Credit Company, was appointed Chair of the association’s Board of Directors. Drotman succeeds Tom Hudgins, President & COO of Western Shamrock. Drotman will oversee the association’s initiatives and lead the more than 400 member companies.

“Jim’s expertise and knowledge is crucial as we continue to navigate a challenging regulatory environment,” said Bill Himpler, President & CEO of AFSA. “AFSA is fortunate to have Jim leadership and I am looking forward to working closely with him over the next 12 months.”

In addition to Drotman’s appointment, Martin Less, President & CEO of Nationwide Acceptance was named Chairman Elect and Kyle Birch, President-North America Operations with GM Financial was named Vice Chairman & Treasurer.

Drotman oversees Ford Credit operations, including marketing, sales, insurance and the delivery of Ford Credit products through thousands of dealers, in the United States, Canada and markets in South America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Drotman joined Ford Credit in 1993 as a customer service representative based in Houston and has held positions with Ford Credit and Ford Motor Company around the world.

Before his current position, Drotman served as Executive Director of Marketing and Sales for Ford Credit Europe, where his work included leading the launch of Ford Money, Ford Credit Europe’s deposit-taking institution in the UK. He also was involved in Brexit transition planning, including creation of a German bank.

As Director of Ford Commercial Solutions Product Development for Ford in 2017, Drotman co-led the creation of the business for connected vehicles with telematics and fleet management. Before that, he served as Ford Credit Vice President of Global Marketing.

He was President of Ford Credit China from 2013-2015. He also has served Ford Credit in Europe and the U.S. in management and supervisory roles in center of excellence, business center, brand and branch operations.

Drotman earned a Bachelor of Business Administration-Finance degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and a Master of Business Administration-Finance and Strategy degree from Southern Methodist University.
