FCC Robocall Rules Must Ensure Consumers Receive Legitimate Calls

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today published its call-blocking Declaratory Ruling and Third Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the Federal Register. Comments will be due 30 days after publication and reply comments will be due 45 days afterward.

“No one likes illegal robocalls at home during dinner time or those annoying vacation offers when you’re trying to enjoy your actual vacation. AFSA supports policies that aim to hinder a group of bad actors that makes it difficult for real customer contact to take place,” said AFSA President and CEO Bill Himpler. “So while we support polices that rein in illegal robocalls, AFSA is strongly advocating for provisions that ensure that consumers receive legitimate calls from businesses and institutions they have relationships with, such as financial institutions.”

AFSA will submit a response and continues meeting with the FCC staff and other federal agencies to ensure that consumers can receive essential calls without delay.
