Ferry Announces Retirement from AFSA

Jack Ferry, Vice President of Communications for AFSA since 2015, announced to the staff this week that he will be retiring effective May 31, 2019.

Ferry has been involved with AFSA as a member starting in the 1990s when he worked for Chrysler Financial and served as Chairman of AFSA’s Public Communications Committee, and again in the mid-2000s.

He joined AFSA after working 29 years in Detroit, mostly in the auto finance sector. Before going to Detroit, he worked as a newspaper reporter and editor in Pennsylvania.

“On behalf of the entire AFSA team, I want to thank Jack for his service to our members and the entire credit industry,” said Bill Himpler, President & CEO of AFSA.

Some of the member-focused communications initiatives Ferry has been involved in since joining AFSA are the launching of a daily roundup of consumer credit news to complement AFSA’s weekly roundup of association advocacy activities; the hiring of a website and social media manager to provide the association a digital communications footprint; and the launching of a podcast focusing on industry issues.

He also worked to increase the news media’s awareness of the beneficial importance of the consumer credit industry in providing access to safe, affordable credit to millions of Americans.

“After working in the industry, to have the opportunity to be a part of the AFSA team has been an incredibly positive experience,” Ferry said.
