AFSA Leadership Development Program Focuses on Team Building

Each summer the AFSA Leadership Development Program is offered at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. This year July 15-22, 32 executives representing 13 AFSA member companies gathered to participate in a jam-packed seven days of leadership growth activities.

Following an opening reception on the arrival day, participants met the next morning to head to Triangle Training Center for an experiential opportunity focused on team building. Other focus areas during the week included:

  • Managing and Leading
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Language of Leadership
  • Business Ethics
  • Negotiations
  • Leading and Managing Change

Participants were also treated to a presentation by Chris Stinebert, AFSA President and CEO, which focused on the state of the industry and provided important updates related to the legislative front.

The week wrapped up with a graduation reception and dinner program. Greg Shealy with 1st Franklin Financial Corporation, newly-elected class president, provided comments to the 2017 Leadership Development Class and Rhonda Ashburn, Executive Director of the AFSA Education Foundation, spoke on how companies can support the foundation by offering the MoneySKILL personal finance course to their company employees and customers.
